ABSTRACT

This was a survey research with the following objectives:

(1) to study level of administrators’ leadership style in Mahachulalongkornrjavidyalaya University, level of perception of department conditions, effectiveness of academic and general administrations;

(2) to compare the difference in leadership style which were different in biographical data,

(3) to compare the difference in level of perception ,

(4) to study the relationship between leadership style, department conditions and the effectiveness of academic and general administrations.

The samples were one hundred and seventy one administrators in Mahachula longkornrajavidyalaya University. The research instruments were questionnaires consisting of four sections:

(1) biographical data,
(2) leadership behavior,
(3) department conditions and
(4) the effectiveness of academic and general administrations.

The research findings were; the administrators’ style in Mahachulalong kornrajavidyalaya University was compounds between affiliation and achievement styles. The perception of department conditions concerning the interrelationship between administrator co-workers was in high level, where the condition of work-structure and administrations’ power were in moderate level. The perceptions of the effectiveness of academic and general administrations were in moderate level.

The differences in biographical data such as age, work experiences, educational level, academic level, academic level, duration in present positions and department were not affect leadership style. The difference in leadership style was not affect to level of perception of department conditions and effectiveness of administrations.

There were relationships between leadership style, perception of department conditions and effectiveness of administration. There were relationships between perception of interrelation between administrator-co-workers and work structure: between interrelation between administrator-co-workers and effectiveness of administrations. There were relationships between perception of work structure and administrators’.
